Why not just join the Green Party?
The Progressive party is a new, 100% volunteer party with a clear and concise focus on reclaiming power from both big government and the corporate world.
The Progressive Party has many areas of agreement with the Green Party in regards to important issues and we are happy to cooperate with them wherever we are in agreement.
However, the Green Party's "brand" is seriously damaged.
Whether public opinion is fair and accurate or not, "Greens" are seen as radical socialists who want excessive government regulation and extensive socialist entitlement programs.
The Green Party's current platform (3/24/2020) offers truly unrealistic and unachievable goals: "Greens want to stop runaway climate change, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions at least 40% by 2020 and 95% by 2050, over 1990 levels. Transition to 100 percent renewable energy by 2030 using wind, solar, ocean, small-scale hydro, and geothermal power. Greens intend to provide a green job to anyone who wants one."
Additionally, other politicians and organizations have "borrowed" the "Green New Deal" brand and severely damaged the positive aspects of the Green Party's initiative through fear-mongering and the propaganda of associating CO2 emissions with the "end of the world."
The Green Party's support of "social justice" has been turned into a major hindrance to progress on the issues that they support by "social justice warriors" from both the Green and other parties.
The authoritarian, sanctimonious, self-righteous and holier-than-thou attitude of SJWs fighting for "social justice" is not helping the Green's cause.
Openly infringing upon the rights and freedoms of people that they see as enemies to be defeated while professing to stand up for the rights of the oppressed is the height of hypocrisy.
While the Green Party supports many progressive policies, it also supports a number of socialist and authoritarian positions that are not progressive at all. Big government is not the solution to Big Business. It is just a transfer of power from one form to the other.
The Green Party has a severe messaging problem. While their policy positions are strong, they have failed to focus their outreach in a way that can continue to attract new members and grow the party. A new approach is needed.
The Progressive Party offers an approach that appeals to a wider coalition of Americans because progressives do not over reach and over promise.
